Insurance is No Joke… True Story…

Yes, today is the last day of the month of April, and as always at month end, I look back on each month and reflect on how we did for the month. After a quick review (even though April starts off with the April Fools’ jokes), April was no joke for Policy Point insurance services. It was a good month and I just want to thank all our clients who do business with us, our referral partners who trust & like doing business with, and our local community in the North County area. We live in such a great area for business and leisure. And I...

Accountants, Bookkeepers and Photographers…. OH MY!

Well, every time this year, TAX Time, we scurry around getting info together to give to our tax professional to make sure we have paid the proper amount for our taxes. I always encourage you to take an extra couple of minutes to evaluate your assets and review your insurance policies to make sure that your policies cover you adequately. If you have had any major changes, changes to your home or property like upgrades or improvements, bought a new car, or even started a business, or expanded your business, or you have a child about to get their...

A little trick… a little treat…

Since tomorrow is Halloween, I thought I’d share a little trick regarding your insurance policies… and then a little treat. I feel the earth move under my feet…

… and (sadly) the wine came tumbling down, tumbling down. Now, while I am certainly keeping those 208 individuals injured (happy there were no casualties reported) in Sunday’s Napa earthquake in my thoughts and prayers, being the insurance guy that I am, my mind also turns to the property damage and how the businesses and homeowners will recover. It also got me to thinking that most people may not be aware that earthquake damage is not covered on a standard homeowners, renters, condo owners or commercial general liability...

The drunk lady almost knocked over the speaker!

My wife often comes home from a meeting, networking event or other gathering with a story someone told her that prompted a question about insurance. Yesterday was no exception. A DJ was telling her a story about a gig she did where a lady had a little too much to drink and stumbled into her large speaker on a tall stand. The speaker began to tip over toward other guests! The DJ was able to grab it and stop it from falling, but it certainly raised some questions about liability. “So, who would be responsible IF the speaker HAD fallen on...

Do you use your car to deliver pizza? Personal vs Commercial Auto Insurance

I recently was at an Oceanside Chamber of Commerce meeting and was talking to another insurance professional in the life insurance field and we began discussing the difference between Commercial & Personal Auto Insurance –  specifically discussing pizza delivery and the new ride share programs that are popping up. Let me just say that Personal auto Insurance is just that, PERSONAL! Pizza delivery is not considered personal unless, of course, you are picking up your own pizza and bringing it home to eat. Other than that, you are...
